Join us to hear new work from local favorites and former Nantucketers Len Germinara and Sarah Oktay. In addition to our featured readers, the program also includes shorter readings with the island poets Kathy Butterworth, Julia Lewis, Maggie Sullivan, and Beck Fee. Len Germinara’s recent poems collected in the chapbook Back Story (December 2019) take the reader on a tour from the east to west coast with a detour through Colorado. Len co-founded Spoken Word Nantucket with his wife Sarah Oktay, a venue that ran for 12 years. He currently lives in Sacramento, CA. where he is co-host of the Poetry Slam at the Sacramento Poetry Center. Dr. Sarah Oktay published her first chapbook of poetry Sifting Light From Darkness in September 2020. She is a chemical oceanographer specializing in climate change and currently works at the University of California’s Davis campus in the John Muir Institute of the Environment’s Natural Reserve System. Her poems examine the interfaces between science and the sublime. The program is free admission, but registration is required. Please sign up online. |
